The project
KIS introduces hybrid bearings for electric motors, combining steel rings with ceramic rolling elements. The source discusses friction, temperature and electrical insulation as reasons to consider this construction. The motor provides a practical setting for explaining a material choice that is difficult to see in a finished product.
The animation
The 3D animation connects the bearing to the motor it supports. It gives a small, normally hidden component a clear place within the assembly, making the hybrid bearing concept easier to introduce before a more detailed technical discussion.
